Workspace of your trailer is a heart of your buisiness. Because of the limited space, it must be designed carefully for ergonomics and hygiene rules.

Here are the main features that define this workspace in a trailer:

  • Trailer size

  • Ergonomics and multifunctionality

  • Mobility (transport)

  • Customization

Even buying the largest trailer, with an area of up to 15 m², is still a challenge in terms of space use. That’s why before buying a trailer, it’s worth asking about:

  • Protruding wheel arches inside

  • Flat floor

  • Internal dimensions

  • Whether it’s possible to install hanging cabinets

A flat floor and the option to install cabinets (reinforcements in the roof/walls) are often features for which trailer manufacturers charge high fees. Sometimes this can be as much as 4,000 PLN!

Our models, RNB-Classic and NEO_Round26, come with a flat floor and multiple reinforcements as standard. This allows all our trailers to make full use of their space.

  • 1. Size of a trailer-

While opening our first food truck, we can't predict every detail, which may influnece our work. The size of the trailer is one of the basic and most important decisions. It’s important to remember that the choice should not depend only on the budget, but also on ensuring the space is neither too much nor too little. You can read more about this in the next post, which will be entirely dedicated to this topic.

    2. Ergonomics and multifunctionality

Ergonomics in a catering trailer is the art of adapting the space to the worker to minimize fatigue and eliminate unnecessary movements. In a food truck, every centimeter counts, and the “dance” of the chefs must be smooth.

Multifunctionality: One piece of furniture, many roles. Multifunctionality is the answer to limited space.

  • Furniture in the trailer must serve at least two functions at the same time, for example:

    • Refrigerated tables with a work surface

    • Foldable counters and serving surfaces

  1. Mobility

The movement of the trailer during driving (vibrations, centrifugal force on turns, sudden braking) can destroy expensive equipment in just a few minutes. Anything that isn’t firmly fixed can become a potential projectile while driving. For this reason, it’s worth considering installing anchor points and other elements that make securing everything faster and easier.

  2. Customization

Remember that the trailer’s equipment is meant to create a comfortable space to maximize efficiency. All furniture and elements should be designed to make work easier, not harder.

To sum up, the topic of workspace is very wide, and we will definitely write more about it., in order to expand your knowledge! It is very important for the people who would like to work in a mobile food business!
